Fix Your Profile Could Not Be Opened Correctly Chrome

Google Chrome Web Browser has started to show a strange message like this.

Your profile could not be opened correctly

Users who have upgraded the Chrome are seeing this message every time they launch the browser. Google is trying to fix the problem and they are asking users to share more information on Chrome Help Page.

Troubleshooting:

As of now, it seems creating new profile is the best available solution. However, there are some serious problems if you follow this step. The topmost concern is your data. You can lose all of them including autofill and history. If you have not saved bookmarks, you can also lose them. Then, there is no guarantee that this solution will work perfectly for you. Many users have reported that even after creating new user profile, this error came back to haunt them as they restart the computer.

Whatever, this seems to be only solution at this moment.

Windows users can follow these steps to create a new user profile:

  1. Close Google Chrome completely.
  2. Click START and go to RUN.
  3. Enter following directories in the RUN Box and press enter

- For windows XP: %USERPROFILE%Local SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeUser Data

- For Windows 7 and Windows Vista: %LOCALAPPDATA%GoogleChromeUser Data

  1. Now you are required to look for DEFAULT in the directory. Open it and rename it to “Back Up Default”.
  2. You are done. When you open the Google Chrome a new DAFAULT directory will be created for you. You can also transfer your data from old directory to this new. But, Google don’t recommend this.

If nothing is working, this solution can come handy. Majority of users did get success through it. Try it and see what’s Google is going to offer in the coming months.

A different approach:

Following steps can also help you to get rid of this problem.

  1. Go to START>Control Paneland there select APPEARANCE AND PERSONALIZATION. Click Folder Option
  2. In the Folder Option you are required to click on VIEW tab. Then select SHOW HIDDENFILES AND FOLDERS. ClickOK.
  3. All hidden files and folders should now be available for manipulation.
  4. Go to this location in your computer

C:Users{username}AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefault

Change username with the username of your computer.

You will find WEB DATA there. Just delete the web data.

Launch Google Chrome. You will not find any irritating error message.
